Happy Fourth of July
Thank you to all who have served!

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we’re reminded of the freedoms we hold dear—freedom to live, to build, to protect our families, and to shape our future. At our firm, we believe estate planning is one of the most powerful ways to exercise those freedoms.

When your estate plan is in place, you gain control over your legacy, protection for your loved ones, and most importantly, peace of mind. You no longer have to wonder what will happen or worry about placing a burden on your family.

Here’s how thoughtful planning today gives you the freedom to relax tomorrow:

Control – You decide who gets what, when, and how. From your home to your family heirlooms, your wishes are clearly spelled out.
Protection – Whether it’s shielding minor children with guardianship designations, providing for a loved one with special needs, or safeguarding assets for your beneficiaries in a trust—your plan works to protect what matters most.
Peace of Mind – Your family won’t be left guessing. No scrambling, no court battles, no “what would they have wanted?” Just clarity, comfort, and confidence in the plan you created.

Estate planning isn’t just for after you’re gone—it’s a gift to yourself now. It means less stress, fewer worries, and more time to enjoy what you’ve built and who you love.

If your plan needs a refresh or if someone you care about is ready to get started, we’re here.

Here’s to your peace of mind and a summer full of rest and joy.

PLO has a special summer employee.

You might recognize Elle, she is Attorney Amy Pittman’s daughter. She’ll be helping out with various administrative duties a few hours a week over the summer, and we’re thrilled to have her on board.  And yes, that is Bailey, clearly not thrilled to be at work.

PLO’s First Annual Summit Information

On May 2, 2025, PLO held our first annual Estate Planning Summit. This event was designed to give our valued clients expert insights into wills, trusts, power of attorney, living wills, health care surrogates, and personal property memorandums. We also discussed what happens when someone dies. It is several hours of informative information.  We had a great turnout and we are looking forward to scheduling another summit in the future. If you were unable to attend, you can watch the event via our YouTube channel. We know it’s a lengthy video but we believe it is a great resource for you and your loved ones covering the basics of estate planning for our clients.

My Neighbor Said…

All I need is a Trust, I don’t need a Durable Power of Attorney.

This neighbor might mean well but don’t take their advice. A Durable Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint someone you trust to manage your financial and legal affairs while you are alive. The term durable means it remains in effect even if you become incapacitated. This document can help ensure your bills are paid, your assets are managed and maintained for your benefit, and important decisions are made without court involvement, giving peace of mind to both you and your loved ones. Amy believes this is the most important estate planning document you can have, and everyone over the age of 18 needs to have one.
