Spring Cleaning for Your Estate Plan 🌷🧹

Just like closets and garages, estate plans benefit from a seasonal refresh. A few small updates can prevent big headaches later—and help your loved ones avoid confusion, delays, or unintended outcomes.

5-Minute Spring Cleaning Checklist ✅

Take a quick look at these items and see if anything has changed or if they need to be updated:

1) Beneficiaries

• Retirement accounts (401(k), IRA)
• Life insurance
• Bank/investment accounts with POD/TOD

2) Trustees / Personal Representatives

• Are your chosen people still the right fit?
• Are they still willing and able to serve?

3) Major life changes since your plan was signed

• Marriage, divorce, new child/grandchild that you want to include
• A move, a new home, a new business, a major inheritance that needs to be incorporated in your estate plan
• Health changes for you or a loved one

4) Where is everything?

• Do your decision-makers know where your documents are stored?
• Do they know to call our office when something happens to you?

Quick Tip of the Month 💡

Having a trust doesn’t automatically update beneficiary forms.
Many assets pass by beneficiary designation (not by your will/trust). A spring review helps make sure everything is coordinated.
