Homestead Exemption
If you are a resident of the state of Florida and own a primary residence worth at least $75,000, you will qualify for a $50,000 homestead property tax exemption for the calendar year, provided you were living in your home as of January 1st.
Exemption for Widowers and Widows
If you are a widower or widow, you may qualify for an additional $500 homestead exemption, provided you are not already receiving an exemption for being blind or disabled, which we will discuss in our next article.
